Sketchbook as Object part 2: Pareidolia 2.6
'Pareidolia is a psycological phenomenom where the brain searches for a familiar pattern in a set forms of shapes and identifies what appears to be a face.'
An example is "Rorschach inkblot test is a prime example of Pareidolia.
This has been used from its invention in the 1920’s up to the present day in numerous countries
throughout the world by psychologists in the diagnosis and treatment of various psychological
conditions. A patient is shown an ink blot on paper and is asked to describe what they see in
the shapes on the page, their answers then give the interviewer an insight into their mental
state."
Many artists use pareidolia, referencing the works of Keith Larsen and Justin Sutcliffe I have collected multiple images that follow a facial pattern.
Example of Keith Larsens work
I too created some digital of my own.
Example of Justin Sutcliffes work
A few of my inspired pictures..
Heres one of a similar theme but it looks more like a dancing wolf rather than just a face.
