Part 3 Working It Out - reflection on feedback
This part 3 (Working It Out) There seems to be a theme in my work not just apparent in this part, but I am not exploring or researching things as in depth as I should. My sources and references aren't very organised, and I need to work on Harvard referencing and maybe finding physical references and such to get more perspective rather than relying on just online which isn’t always a reliable source. I seem to also have a hard time understanding how some of the exercise briefs are written an example of this is misinterpreted and carried out one of the exercise in a way where I did something different to what I was supposed to. In the future I really need to not overthink the tasks and not be afraid to ask for help.
This feedback is helpful because now I can redo and change the things that I have either misinterpreted or not fully completed to a standard I aim for. I am very impatient when it comes to the planning side of things and although most of the time my spontaneity works. I think stepping back and exploring my ideas makes me feel like I’ve put a lot more effort in and I’m often a lot more satisfied with the end product because I know I have put the most thought into it.
What I think I have done well is my exercises I have experiment a lot with different compositions of things and working around an image to fit a brief and including my own style and being inspired to making the final illustrations as creative and unpredictable as possible.
What I have learnt and what I am going to apply to my future work is taking time to brainstorm and plan a final piece. It’s often necessary to make the process easier and more organised. It also means I can change and experiment with many ideas instead of just making a quick sketch up and then doing the final piece with minimal thought. I think it is also good for future reference when I want to understand what went on behind my illustration.
