When I was looking through Brandon’s studies for ‘GET OUT’ and the Fresh Price of Bel air the image doesn’t exist anymore and the Instagram post has been deleted so all that is left is the text, fortunately there were pictures from the part 4 PDF just not as good quality when made bigger.
His interpretation of the scene and narrative description acts sort of like a reverse script that’s been created by visuals from watching the movie and recreating it as his own with a focus on certain shots, colours, expressions. It’s a good dissection of the scene and its simple to follow.
I enjoyed looking through his other storyboards on his blog and the video animations he’s done too.
I like the ‘Bedtime’ one where it features a real-life picture of him as a baby with a teddy and the story he created involves this teddy fighting the monsters at night time when Brandon falls asleep, ‘how I felt about bedtime as a child’. His style of drawing is very comic book like, and it often has the action and all the elements of a comic book story, even though they are still images you can imagine them as an animation.
The blog in which all of these studies and storyboards are on doesnt appear to be active anymore, He does have a website but it has no animations or narratives.Instead it is still illustrations that have been commisioned or feature in an article and so on.
