The power of books Part 1: Ex 3 Alternative publications
Using my research into artists' books and fanzines as a starting point I then had a go in my sketchbook at experimenting 'cut and pasting' and collaging. I used some newspaper, book pages, drawings with pen and pencil.
I made a random page with cut outs from magazines, newspaper with no particular theme. I try to keep the chaotic feeling of fanzines showing the rawness of a page with no real order.
The second page I did world cup theme because there was a lot of that in the papers I had. This is a bit less chaos in relation to the words being complete sentences no cut and paste. I did use a lot more pen on these pictures just to mess around like you would as a kid when your nan had magazines and you flick through and draw on all the faces.
I enjoy collaging and I find it easy and an effective way to cover a page because nothing needs to be perfect or make sense.
I ended up doing one quicker simple page with a small sample of handwriting and bold text.
