Visual Languages project 2 reflection and feedback

 Reflection

Similarly to the first project, Project 2 involved a good amount of experimentation and problem-solving. Even the research task of comparing William Hogarth's popular satirical engravings, Beer Street and Gin Lane, felt like a "spot the difference" exercise, analyzing the subtle differences and meanings within each piece. One of the research tasks on "design and the play instinct" was a great read; it made me reflect on how I produce my work and how, as an adult, the creative process isn’t as free as it was in childhood. However, I think that balancing playfulness with a planned approach makes the art more effective.

Reflecting again on Project 1, the assignment was also quite instinctual and playful. Doodling on a page comes naturally, and it was a therapeutic task.

Feedback

The feedback I found it helpful. I know what things I need to explore further. I think each project and assignment I could talk about more in depth by reflecting on the tasks, how reached certain outcomes and what connections were made throughout the project. Researching other artists may be something I need to do a lot more of too just to gain more perspective when producing my own work.
